De-Railed Theatre Collective empowers youth to perform their personal histories in relation to the official story of the nation.
As a new theatre collective located in Toronto, De-Railed focuses on the stories that veer from the official ones, aiming to tell and embody the stories that lie off the track. Working with youth in Toronto's "priority neighbourhoods", this collective offers workshops using theatre to empower youth to link their individual stories with a wider community and Canadian history.
De-Railed was founded in 2009 by Stephanie Dotto and Christine Mayor, who together bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in theatre for social change models, popular education, theatre production, forum theatre and community building approaches.
